CABLE CROSSING

Average Depth: 20 ft. / 6 m
Max Depth: 30 ft. / 9 m

Cable Crossing is located just south of the Breakers Hotel, and takes its name from the large communication cable that runs through the area. It is located 3 3/4 miles south of the Palm Beach Inlet and sits only a quarter mile offshore. It is very close to the Breakers Reef but it’s not considered a part of it.

The Cable Crossing reef lies in 25 feet of water and consists of a series of 4- to 5-foot ledges that are honey-combed with many mini-caves. The caves make a perfect place for sea creatures seeking shelter to congregate, thus, numerous juvenile tropicals can be found along with the occasional tarpon. The opportunity to encounter manta rays, sea turtles, and nurse sharks as well as guitarfish is also present in the short coral reef.

With its relatively shallow profile and moderate currents, Cable Crossing is often a spot for introductory dives and snorkeling during surface intervals.
