Bath and Tennis Reef is one of the prolific inshore reefs of Palm Beach, Florida. This quarter of a mile long shallow reef has very healthy and colored coral formations, especially during bright sunny days. It is located just east of Mar-a-Lago, a seaside mansion built between 1924 and 1927 for the exceptionally rich. This more than 100.000 square foot large real estate is currently owned by Donald Trump. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1980 and receives tourists from all over the world.
Bath and Tennis Reef is a quiet dive site, especially visited by visitors of the Mar-a-Lago club. Together with Breakers Reef and Flower Garden, it is known for a steep inside wall that rises more than ten feet from the sand. It sports sponges, gorgonians and corals along with schools of grunts help to make this dive site filled with aquatic life. It is one of the most popular snorkeling and diving site for club members. Marine life is excellent with all the known species of coral and its inhabitants. Several honeycomb holes make it a wonderful dive site to search for lobster. Six foot high ledges, small relief, huge amount of juvenile fish and some remnants of a small wreck are the highlights in diving here.
Locating this area may be difficult so though look for the discoloration of the bottom sand. The entire area is oblong in shape and is about 1/4 mile long. The current is generally not an issue at this location.
